Stress

Different stresses impact your health.

Stress is one of the biggest causes of neuroinflammation - having a major effect on our brain. Repeat, sustained and deep rooted stress triggers persistent inflammation in the body and has a greater impact on your physical and psychological health.

Stress on the body can predispose patients to being susceptible to physical and psychological conditions and these stresses have a major role in patients developing ME/CFS, fibromyalgia and other post-viral fatigue conditions.

Acute Stress

Acute stress is new, shocking and out of the ordinary, such as a bereavement or making a mistake at work. You feel a shot of adrenaline and increased heart rate.

Semi-Acute Stress

Episodic acute stress has relative regularity or frequency, like the stress of hitting work targets every month. You may experience the feeling of dread, butterflies or nerves.

Chronic Stress

Chronic stress is the most dangerous as it is easily ignored and starts to feel familiar, like being in an unwilling job or an unhappy or abusive relationship.

Physical Stress

Physical stresses or trauma, such as broken bones, concussion, surgery and even postural strains can have lasting ramifications on the body due to the impact on the autonomic nervous system.

Environmental Stress

Inhaling or touching toxic materials like mold, exhaust fumes or even ingesting plastics forces the body to process large, complex, toxic molecules which can take their toll, over time.

Infection Stress

The immune response triggered when battling a viral or bacterial infection is an extra strain on the body.
