Osteopathy for babies

Mums and dads want the best for their babies and increasingly cranial osteopathy is used to soothe and help any problems babies are experiencing.

We treat babies every week in clinic using a combination of cranial osteopathy and structural osteopathy for issues developed in the womb, during labour, the fourth trimester and beyond.

Cranial osteopathy is a gentle treatment used on a baby's head to gently release tension and help with head shape. Cranial methods are used on other parts of the body alongside structural techniques like gentle massage and stretching to release tensions in a babies body and reduce frustrations and discomfort.

The combination of these techniques sees a great success. Our Paediatric Osteopaths adapt treatment to each individual baby and circumstance, such as adapting treatment to be carried out whilst feeding, chaining or on energetic toddlers who want to do anything but lie still!

Such consideration is aimed at making the appointment less stressful for parents and babies and ensure treatment sees effective results.

Osteopathy for children

As children grow and physically develop some children need a little helping hand to adapt to the changes. Physical stresses and strains come with growing up but also falls, bumps and knocks can have an underlying effect.

We also can help with digestion issues and anxiety related tension which manifests both physically and behaviourally and isn’t always obvious as anxiety and displayed as hyperactivity, sleeplessness, lethargy or aggression or even headaches/migraines or stomach aches.

Osteopathy can help to relieve this tension, helping the child to become happier, relaxed and able to enjoy life without limitations which could hinder their development and schooling.

β€œOsteopathy was a last resort for our girl and her acute needs. It surpassed our expectation! She’s a lot calmer and content with fewer outbursts. Thank you so much!
